“Le 29 mars 2022 était lancé le projet Suite Métiers d’art Signée Jean-Claude Poitras au prestigieux hôtel Montréalais Fairmont Reine-Élizabeth. Cette initiative est le fruit d’une première collaboration sous le signe de la célébration entre le Conseil des Métiers d’art du Québec, l’hôtel Fairmont Reine-Élizabeth, et le créateur pluridisciplinaire Jean-Claude Poitras. “Cinthya Chalifoux is a multidisciplinary visual artist with a fascinating background in fashion, bespoke and textile. You can read more about her intriguing practice in an article here. Recently, she created a breakthrough video “Mask Down” which was transformed into a photographic tryptic. We sat down with the artist to learn more about this beautiful and multi-fascinating art piece.”

“Cinthya Chalifoux might be new to Fine Art but her previous work and experiences as a bespoke artist amplify her diverse artwork. As a Bachelor of Fine Arts student at Concordia University, she has already been noted as a keen worker and unique concept creator. Of course, her natural pull towards using textiles will surely remain in her practice but she is also producing video art concepts where she is the performer!

She is a diverse, experienced, and ultra-talented multi-medium artist. With her skill set and drive, she will surely continue to impress. We are excited to continue watching her evolve as a visual artist and showcase her art at Jano Lapin Gallery.”

“Androgyny chic is predicted as a big fashion trend for next fall, but Cinthya Chalifoux has been following men's wear tailoring for years.

The Montreal fashion designer, a native of Sorel-Tracy, Que., has consistently applied tailoring techniques associated with men's clothing to the women's apparel she makes and sells under her own CIN Tailleurs label, launched in her adopted city in 2009.

Calling herself a tailor inspired by haute-couture fashion, Chalifoux creates meticulously crafted pieces cut from her own patterns and made from the finest materials: silk, cashmere, cotton and wool. Each garment takes 30 hours, on average, to make and is based on precise measurements of the wearer's body to ensure an exact fit.”
